Before the end of the current campaign, it looked like Man City striker Gabriel Jesus would join his former manager Mikel Arteta at the Emirates, but with six other clubs also said to be interested in the Brazilian striker (according to his agent), the move became less certain when Arsenal lost to Tottenham in the race for the last Champions League spot.
With the latest rumors that Antonio Conte is also keen to take Jesus to Tottenham, it was speculated that they would now be favorites with the promise of a place in Europe’s elite competition, but according to SkySports journalist Michael Bridge speaking to GiveMeSport, it’s Arsenal who have the clear advantage. He said: “Gabriel Jesus has been told by Edu that he will be Arsenal’s number nine. I imagine City will entertain people like Tottenham involved in a bidding war and Tottenham have that carrot from League football champions on Arsenal, but Arsenal would stress that Jesus would be central, whereas you can’t convince anyone when you have Harry Kane.
Jesus has already said he wants to go where he can play regular first-team football, and with Erling Haaland going to Man City he would go lower in the pecking order, so it doesn’t make sense that he would move to Tottenham to be in exactly the same position behind Harry Kane.
Come to Arsenal, Jesus. You know that makes sense!
