The thought of David Ospina might give some Arsenal fans nightmares, but that hasn’t stopped a host of clubs from expressing interest in the 33-year-old this summer.

After Real Madrid expressed enthusiasm just a week ago, it’s now the turn of Villarreal, who seem a much more realistic future home for Ospina.

That’s according to Marca, who claim that, despite meetings between the Napoli hierarchy and Ospina’s agent, they haven’t been able to reach some kind of agreement and the keeper looks set to leave for free at the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

Free is a price that Villarreal likes.

Villarreal’s own reserve keeper Sergio Asenjo, described by Marca as a ‘veteran’ despite being a year younger than Ospina, will leave the club when his contract expires this summer and the Spaniards are looking for a replacement .

Emery is also said to want ‘more competition’ for his main goalkeeper, Geronimo Rulli.
