Everton confident in Tarkowski deal
EVERTON are increasingly confident of winning the race for out-of-contract James Tarkowski.
The England defender is one of the most sought after signings of the summer, with his free agent status on July 1 seeing a host of clubs pushing for his signature.
But with the center half-booked to see a less than lucrative four-and-a-half-year Burnley contract he signed in January 2018, he’s now ready to cash in.
That appears to have dampened interest from Aston Villa and West Ham somewhat, and he is leaning towards Everton with his roots now firmly in the North West.
The Blues need to sort through their finances to generate the funds needed for transfer signings, but they will offload players previously on big deals this summer, with the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Cenk Tosun and Fabian Delph all leaving at the end of their huge contracts.
This will free up significant funds to give Tarkowski close to the money he is looking for, with the defender believed to be looking for around £5million a year, or £100,000 a week.
Newcastle are also in contention and can match any offer from Everton, but Tarkowski was born in Manchester and, apart from a short stint with Brentford, has spent most of his career in the North West .
