Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd can fire star, Spurs treble encounter, Chelsea offer ‘rejected’ | Soccer | sport

The summer transfer window is in full swing and the Premier League’s biggest sides are still working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign. The momentum is building for Arsenal and Manchester United, but plenty of tougher talks loom on the horizon with a host of sagas to wrap up.

United’s swoop for De Jong has met with just about every possible twist over the past few weeks, and it still looks like there’s a lot to do before fans can focus on his welcome to Old Trafford. A stalemate with Barcelona currently stands in the way of his proposed switch, in addition to the small question of his preference to stay at Camp Nou.

As for Arsenal, their summer got another boost on Monday when they agreed a deal for Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Gunners are hoping to close the gap to the top four next season, and a second summer binge in a row could help Mikel Arteta to that end.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to cut the fat from their squad as Todd Boehly tries to pull the strings in terms of recruitment. A deal involving Armando Broja could take further steps towards completion today, with West Ham heavily linked.
