Ten Hag invited to sign Ziyech

New Manchester United boss Eric ten Hag has been asked to sign Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech by Ajax legend Marco van Basten.

Ziyech worked with Ten Hag in Amsterdam before his move to the Premier League, and although he won trophies at Chelsea, the Morocco international struggled to carve out a place in the first team. He has only made 12 league starts this season.

Speaking on Dutch television Monday night on Ziggo Sport’s ‘Rondo’ – which featured Ten Hag as a guest – Van Basten suggested Ziyech could thrive again under United’s new manager if he moves to Old Trafford .

“What comes to mind now is that I think Ziyech, who is already playing in England, could be a very good Manchester United footballer for Erik,” Van Basten said.

Ten Hag declined to specifically address Van Basten’s suggestion and insisted he was already used to handling transfer speculation.

“Of course, that was already the case at Ajax,” said Ten Hag. “You take that into account and then you have to continue to work well with the dressing room and with the people within the club. You have to analyze well and make the right choices.
