Richarlison wouldn’t make Arsenal’s starting XI, says Jack Wilshere, who jokes he’ll move to Australia if Tottenham win the Premier League

Richarlison will improve the Tottenham squad but he won’t make it into Arsenal’s starting XI, Jack Wilshere believes.

The Everton striker is closing in on a £50m move to Spurs, who have had a very productive transfer window.

Wilshere says the Brazilian ‘could be one to watch’ at Spurs, however, Richarlison would not be guaranteed a start to Mikel Arteta’s first team.

“I think he improves the team, definitely… he gives them something different,” Wilshere told talkSPORT.

“I wouldn’t say I’m drained [he’s not signed for Arsenal].

“He’s 25, so not young. There comes a time when you have to turn that potential into something, but to be fair, if anyone can do that, it’s Antonio Conte.

“I wouldn’t say I’m devastated as an Arsenal fan, but he might be one to watch, he might be really good.”

And when asked if he would have Richarlison at Arsenal, Wilshere replied: “Yes, but I don’t think he comes into the XI.

“He would definitely challenge for that and be a good part of the squad, but I don’t think he’ll make it into the XI.”

Richarlison will be the latest signing in an exciting transfer window, which has also brought in Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

It has been suggested that Spurs could catch up with Manchester City and Liverpool and Wilshere jokes that he intends to go very far if Antonio Conte’s men win the Premier League.

When asked what he would do if Spurs became champions, Wilshere replied: “I’m moving to Australia if that ever happens!”
