Presnel Kimpembe opens up on future plans amid Chelsea interest

Speaking to French radio channel RMC Sport, as quoted by GFFN (h/t Football.London), PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe talks about his future plans amid interest from Chelsea.

Kimpembe has been part of Paris Saint-Germain’s roster since he was young and finally broke into the first team in 2015. Since then the Frenchman has established himself as one of the best defenders in the League. 1 during this period.

The 26-year-old has been rock solid at the back for the French giants even this season under Mauricio Pochettino. The talented defender has featured 41 times for the Ligue 1 champions this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in all competitions.

Chelsea were interested in signing the French defender this summer and asked about his future, Kimpembe said

“Everyone knows the love I have for Paris Saint-Germain, it’s mutual. I’ll be 27 in August, it’s a key moment in my career. I’m waiting to meet the new management in relation to the club’s project. We will have to talk very soon.

Reinforcements in central defense?

That Chelsea need reinforcements at the back is completely unsurprising, with the Blues finding themselves extremely understaffed in the department.

Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have left the club, meaning Chelsea will have to buy centre-backs on the market. While many names are linked with the Blues, no player has been signed yet and we will have to act quickly.

Presnel Kimpembe will be a dream signing. The Frenchman is an extremely talented central defender who often tends to go unnoticed. The 26-year-old has what it takes to become one of the best centre-backs in the world if he comes to the Premier League.

The PSG man has a contract with the French club until 2024 and if he wanted to leave, PSG could choose to sell him this summer to get the most value out of him. However, having been part of the youth ranks since 2011, Kimpembe might want to stay at the Parc des Princes.

If Kimpembe wants a change and decides to move to Chelsea, it will be worth paying the money the French club have for him. Otherwise, we will have to look for alternative options.
