Neil Warnock has claimed he absolutely loves Chelsea’s Mason Mount as a player.
Mount, 23, was in fine form for the Blues in their 6-0 win at Southampton today. He scored two and assisted another in the Premier League thrashing, earning him a WhoScored rating of 10.0.
Mount, along with most of his teammates, has really underperformed the past two games.
However, the England international once again looked down on Southampton and tormented the opposition with his clever move.
Certainly, Chelsea will need him in similar form to overturn a 3-1 aggregate deficit against Real Madrid next Tuesday.
James is officially returning to HITC!
Warnock, who announced his retirement as a manger on Saturday, gave attacking midfielder Mount a special mention after the 6-0 win.
“I like Mont. I think Mount has improved [this season]“Warnock told Sky Sports News (5:18 a.m., April 9).
Mount exceeds last season’s numbers
Of course, the game isn’t all about stats and goal contributions. It’s something Mount has repeatedly mentioned in interviews this season, though.
He now has 10 goals and 13 assists in all competitions this season, so he’s starting to surpass last year’s record. He ended the 2020/21 campaign with nine goals and nine assists in all competitions.
He’s showing improvements when it comes to his attacking production and that makes him so vital in Thomas Tuchel’s XI.
There’s a lot to admire in many other areas of his game, so combining that with consistent goalscoring makes him a phenomenal player.
