Martinelli: I want to stay at Arsenal for the rest of my career – Arseblog News

Gabriel Martinelli pledged his commitment to Arsenal saying he would stay at the club for the rest of his career if given the chance.

Arriving as an unknown quantity from Brazilian fourth-tier side Ituano in July 2019, the striker has had his fair share of ups and downs during a traumatic three-year spell for the club.

He was quick to turn heads when he scored on his League Cup debut under Unai Emery and went on to restore his reputation with goals at Anfield and Stamford Bridge before a serious injury to the knee sidelined him for six months during the pandemic. A frustrating bench-warming spell was followed by an Olympic gold medal, which helped boost his confidence.

Aged just 20, he is now targeting a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad and is determined to help the Gunners return to the Champions League.

“I’m working in this direction, I’m doing my best so that Arsenal can first qualify for the Champions League and, therefore, get a place in the World Cup,” he told ESPN Brasil. .

“It’s every player’s dream to play in a Champions League and a World Cup. This season I can compete for a place in the Champions League and consequently win a place in the national team”

Under contract until 2024, there are suggestions the Gunners will look to tie Martinelli to a new contract next season. There seems to be no doubt in the striker’s mind that Arsenal are where they want to be.

“We always want more,” he said of Mikel Arteta’s young side. “Of course Arsenal are a giant team. If I can, I will stay here all my life. I want to conquer things, I’ve said it before, I want to stay here and win titles, with this great audience, my team-mates .

“We have a young group, we have a lot of time ahead of us, players with a lot of quality, I think we are going to achieve great things. Our objective [today] is the Champions League. Fighting for that top four. A club like Arsenal must be in the Champions League. This is our total objective.

Obviously, it’s nice to hear such positive words from Gabi, even if her profession of undying love comes with a heavy dose of youthful exuberance.
