Manchester United in transfer fight with Liverpool over Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka

According to BirminghamLive, Manchester United are currently engaged in a fight with Liverpool over the transfer of Aston Villa star Carney Chukwuemeka. He is on international duty for Under-19 training and has impressed with flying colors so far.

Chukwuemeka’s future is currently shrouded in uncertainty as he is yet to renew his contract with Villa. He was expected to sign a new long-term deal but that hasn’t happened so far, paving the way for other clubs like Man United to try their cards to sign him.

The Red Devils are monitoring the situation, but they also face competition from Jurgen Klopp. Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also in the game to secure the signing of the England starlet at the moment. He wants to earn a bigger role at Villa Park, so his future would likely lie somewhere where a suitor can meet his demands.

Can Man Utd sign Chukwuemeka?

The 18-year-old made 14 appearances for the Lions at senior level in the previous campaign, which amounts to 415 minutes in total. He also got an assist during this time, so it’s debatable if we can guarantee him a place in our main team.

It’s quite hard to see at this stage which greatly reduces our chances of signing Chukwuemeka ahead of next season. After all, we have our own youngsters like James Garner who hasn’t made his mark in the senior team, but he’s about to knock on the door after enjoying a great loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

Also, others like Donny van de Beek are only in line to have a fair chance under Erik ten Hag despite the starts we’ve had in midfield. Moreover, there are also plans to bring in reinforcements, with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong being an example.

Luckily, we’re at least getting some sort of relief as Dortmund’s interest in Chukwuemeka is said to be of no weight at the moment. Patrick Berger of Sport1 of Twitter denied claims he had an agreement with the German club.

This undercuts one of our current competitors, but it’s far from guaranteed that we can have a chance of signing the young Lions in the current situation. Hence, the fans are hoping to see him stay with Steven Gerrard’s side so that the Manchester side can have another shot at securing his signature in the future.
