Manchester United could throw a spanner in the works when it comes to signing Paulo Dybala from Tottenham or Arsenal this summer, according to reports from Italy over the weekend.
Tuttomercatoweb have reported that United have apparently already arranged a meeting with Dybala’s representatives over a possible move to Old Trafford this summer. Dybala is leaving Juventus, and a host of top European clubs are looking to sign him if they can.
Among those interested parties are Tottenham and Arsenal. Indeed, reports have already claimed that Fabio Paratici has also been in contact with Dybala’s representatives. Labeled a “special” player by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, Dybala appears to be linked with a move to England every summer.
However, this year will be the best chance for the clubs. He is leaving Juventus for nothing and news of United meeting Tottenham already suggests plans are in place at various clubs.
Dybala has had a great career in Italy so far. But he failed to put pen to paper on a new deal in Turin and that alerted Europe’s top clubs.
TBR’s view: Dybala won’t sign for United if there’s no top spot
And that’s why this Champions League run in the Premier League is so important. The reality is that this is going to determine which players clubs can choose. It is really very important.
Dybala won’t want to sign for United if he fails. Equally, he’ll likely turn his nose up at Spurs if they mess up their lines as well.
Make no mistake, however, that Paulo Dybala improves both of these teams. The Argentinian striker is a real superstar when he wants to be and he would raise the bar.
