Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe wanted by Brighton

Brighton are reportedly interested in Manchester United star Axel Tuanzebe as Graham Potter eyes a defensive addition to his squad this summer.

According to Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion are considering a move for Manchester United outcast Axel Tuanzebe. Graham Potter is considering defensive reinforcements, with the 24-year-old seen as a good budget option in the summer window.

Brighton and Graham Potter have been a sensational couple so far, with the manager having been instrumental in developing some of their stars since joining the club. The rise of some players has raised the level of the team in many ways, and the coach is considering new names this summer to take the team to the next level.

Brighton are said to have developed their academy from the huge transfer fee they received for the likes of Ben White last summer. They are awaiting offers for current stars, such as Marc Cucurella, as interest from Manchester City and Chelsea mounts in the next window.

Potter may not be looking to invest huge sums in new players and could consider beneficial transfers for players he can develop further. One such target, according to the report, is Axel Tuanzebe, who has no future at Manchester United. The defender has seemingly lost his way in search of first-team football and finds himself on the verge of leaving Old Trafford.

Tuanzebe joined Aston Villa on loan last summer in search of regular first-team football. But, following the arrival of Steven Gerrard, he left the Midlands club in January and made another temporary move to Napoli.

However, Tuanzebe only played for the club twice in Italy, including just one league appearance. There’s no way Napoli will make the deal permanent, and the Manchester United academy graduate will be back at the club soon. He has a contract until 2023, with the club retaining the option for another year.

However, if a decent offer arrives this summer, Manchester United might be happy to let him go, given that they are eyeing further defensive reinforcements themselves. Brighton are reportedly interested in Tuanzebe, as Potter eyes quality defensive reinforcements for his side.

Despite a strong end to the season, Brighton failed to sign a replacement for Dan Burn, who joined Newcastle United in the January window. While interest in the 24-year-old Tuanzebe may be real, he may not be seen as an immediate starter as Potter could look to work with the defender and develop him further.

Tuanzebe has the physical qualities to excel in the Premier League, but other aspects of his game need to be worked on. Potter could be looking to fix the issues and make him an important player for his future teams.
