Manchester United were, at one point, considered the favorite of Benfica star Darwin Nunez. However, the Uruguay international has now sealed a move to Liverpool after the Red Devils opted against aggressively pursuing his signing. Now Erik ten Hag is likely to look elsewhere as he looks to bolster his new side’s attack while the summer transfer window is open.
Manchester United were linked with Nunez just last week after the Benfica star scored 34 goals in all competitions last season.
But the striker will head to Anfield instead, with the Red Devils refusing to engage Liverpool in a bidding war.
United know that Cristiano Ronaldo will stay for another year.
And they also have Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Anthony Martial as attacking options for Ten Hag.
With the Dutchman keen to improve his new squad, United are still expecting to make a new attacking signing.
Express Sport will therefore now look at four goals the Red Devils could end up pursuing instead.
Erik ten Hag: What De Jong learned about Man Utd transfer
Robert Lewandowski has made no secret of his desire to leave Bayern Munich.
And although Barcelona are leading the race to sign the Poland international, United have also been linked.
They considered snapping up the striker in 2012 when Sir Alex Ferguson ruled the roost.
However, they ultimately opted to splash the cash on Robin van Persie instead – the Dutch international arriving from Arsenal.
United want fresh blood but Lewandowski, as one of the best strikers in the world, could be perfect for Ten Hag’s revolution.
That said, Barcelona are still the front-runners when it comes to signing the player.

And Sébastien Haller is one of them.
He had already failed in the Premier League with West Ham, failing to live up to expectations at the London stadium.
But he rebuilt his reputation at Aja,x, scoring 32 league goals in two seasons in Amsterdam.
Ten Hag knows the striker well and could therefore continue his reunion with the 27-year-old this summer.

Another forward Ten Hag knows well is Antony.
Reports in Brazil suggest United are closing in on the striker, who has been compared to Neymar in the past.
And given his versatility and immense talent, he would be a good signing for the Red Devils.
Ajax are adamant they won’t allow Ten Hag to tear apart the squad he has built.
But money talks and United, as one of the wealthiest clubs on the planet, have the financial muscle to get a deal done.

United’s bid for Richarlison cannot be ruled out.
They were heavily linked with the striker just a month ago when Everton’s Premier League status was under threat.
And although the Toffees have managed to stay in the top flight, Richarlison’s long-term future at Goodison Park is up in the air.
United have already attacked Everton for Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini.
Therefore, another raid on the Merseyside outfit cannot be entirely ruled out.
