Rangnick gives insight into the reconstruction of Ten Hag

Caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick, who will be in the United dugout for the last time this weekend, believes Ten Hag still has a core of players he can build around next season.

The German has been outspoken since replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year, previously suggesting he could take six years and up to 10 players to compete with the league’s best.

But a more philosophical Rangnick, who is due to speak with Ten Hag next week, thinks there is plenty for the new boss to do.

“I still strongly believe that there is a core of players who are top notch, worthy and good enough to play for this club and hopefully most of those players will still be there next season. If the board, Erik, the scouting department will help them with any issues I can bring to help them.”
