Manchester United have completed talks to bring Mitchell van der Gaag to the club as one of new manager Erik ten Hag’s assistants.
The couple were flown to London on a private jet provided by United on Wednesday and are expected to meet staff at the club’s headquarters in Mayfair on Thursday.
Ten Hag has been working remotely since leaving Ajax early after their last game of the season on Sunday, but the new United manager wants to get off to a good start and traveling to England to meet colleagues was seen as an important step .
Van der Gaag’s presence at his side was long overdue and the conclusion of his contract negotiations means he can join the visit as well.
Steve McClaren is also set to join the Ten Hag support team, with personal terms talks ongoing.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick will manage United for the last time on Sunday, when he travels to Crystal Palace. United sit sixth in the Premier League, two points ahead of seventh-placed West Ham United.
