It was reported last month that Man Utd tried to sign him as his future was up in the air.
However, Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Araujo has committed his future to the La Liga club.
A club statement read: “FC Barcelona and player Ronald Araujo have reached an agreement to renew his contract until June 30, 2026. The stipulated buyout clause is set at €1 billion.”
Having put him on their summer roster, Chelsea will have to look elsewhere with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger set to leave on free transfers at the end of 2021/22.

The Blues have been linked with Sevilla centre-half Jules Kounde and were reportedly close to signing him last summer.
Amid rumors linking the Frenchman to Man Utd and Chelsea, Steve McManaman has claimed that ‘there’s a reason’ why he hasn’t left Sevilla yet.
“I saw him a lot. Him and [fellow Sevilla defender] Diego Carlos is linked to many clubs every year,” McManaman told HorseRacing.Net.
“I think the pair of them could easily go to the end. A few years ago they were worth £40m, £50m, £60m, and then they struggled to some degree.
“Koundé is a French international and he is young. It will attract attention. The way Spanish defenders play always means they do.
“But even though he’s only 23, he’s there and has been very well liked for the past few years. However, no one has fallen for him yet, and there’s a reason.
“It’s either because he’s too expensive or because he’s not yet at the top level. I still think he needs to improve if he wants to be in the top echelons of the Premier League. , where you will find the best teams.
