Liverpool star Thiago Alcântara fails in bid to tighten mansion security after series of break-ins

LIVERPOOL star Thiago Alcântara has failed in his bid to step up security at his mansion following a series of break-ins.

The midfielder, 30, wanted to erect a ring of steel around his £3.85million pad after a series of raids on footballers’ homes in the area.

But his plans to build a wall topped with balustrades were blocked – and he was also denied permission for 6ft aluminum doors.

Residents objected to the “military or industrial” design of the gates.

The Spain international made the failed bid after a series of burglaries near his mansion in Knutsford, Cheshire.

He bought the magnificent property with his wife Júlia Vigas last year. The couple lives there with their two young children.

But they have become increasingly concerned about the number of so-called Away Day Robberies – where scammers target the homes of Premier League footballers during matches.

Furious locals helped sabotage his plans to replace his wooden front doors.

The South Knutsford residents’ group wrote: ‘Members object to the design of the proposed forbidden doors.

“The design is military or industrial in style and does not match the [area].”

Thiago’s planning agent had said the star wanted “increased security” at his lavish home.

The app added: “The owners also want to update their existing front doors by replacing them from worn wood with aluminum.

“The height would be increased to add more privacy and security.”
