Jurgen Klopp says Manchester City and Liverpool are pushing each other “to insane levels” and have praised the level of the Premier League.
After City’s resounding victory in the Manchester derby on Sunday, Guardiola said Liverpool were “the toughest opponent” he had as manager and Klopp says the feeling is mutual.
“I could return that statement to him,” he said. “The number of points both teams have collected over the past few seasons, we are pushing each other to insane levels.
“I don’t think City would have got the same number of points without us, or us without them.
“That makes it very interesting. We face the strongest teams in the world in this league.
“There are no easy matches, but that’s the challenge and we appreciate it.”
