Laporta: Barcelona will announce Christensen, sign Raphinha, Dembélé, keep De Jong

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been pulling financial levers like he’s the Wizard of Oz and he’s now hoping to work a little more magic on any potential transfer deals his club are also involved in. Luckily, some of them are also in the outskirts of Chelsea.

First of all, the Blaugrana will finally announce the signings of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, who both join on free transfers, from AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively. Barca didn’t quite have room in their budget to register La Liga players before but now they’re obviously ready to go.

“We will present Kessié on Wednesday and Christensen on Thursday.”

But Laporta is not stopping there, and he believes they can sign both Raphinha and (re-)sign Ousmane Dembélé, who officially became a free agent two days ago. They are reportedly close to matching Chelsea’s offer for Raphinha and are absolutely confident – and probably with good enough reason – that the 25-year-old will choose them. The same goes for Dembélé, despite the long standoff over his contract renewal.

“[Dembélé] is a person we appreciate very much [and] the coach is very happy with him. It’s an economic question, he answered us without saying yes or no. We have a good relationship with the player and with the agents there is communication. If he accepts the conditions we have presented to him, he will continue, otherwise, no.

“We don’t set deadlines for anything, not for signatures, not for levers or anything. Now that we’ve activated the first lever, we’ve released quite a bit of pressure. We’re working hard on both players and controllers.

“We spoke with Leeds about Raphinha, we know the player would also like to come to Barca, but there are also other clubs. It wouldn’t be exclusive with Dembélé, because the coach sees them as compatible.”

And Laporta doesn’t even stop there, and he heavily hints at not just signing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, but also keeping Manchester United and potential Chelsea target Frenkie de Jong – the latter in him. taking a pay cut! How many other levers are there? !

Frenkie de Jong is a Barca player and is recognized as one of the best players in the world. We know clubs who want him, not just United and we have no intention of selling him and the player I feel he wants. He is comfortable at Barça and I will do what I can to ensure that Frenkie stays.

“What is certain is that, and we would get into another discussion, is that the salary levels of certain players are not in line with the salary levels that the board that I have the privilege of presiding has fixed. But it is also a question of salary and it should be adjusted”

All is well in the Barcelona neighborhood then.
