Kylian Mbappe spotted in Madrid as Real remain confident, Arsenal keen on Raheem Sterling transfer – Paper Round

Mbappe in Madrid

Kylian Mbappe was spotted in Madrid on Monday, as Cope first reported, while Marca claim there is ‘complete confidence and serenity at Real Madrid’ regarding the Frenchman’s future. Despite reports that Mbappe could still sign an extension at Paris Saint-Germain, Marca’s report says the 23-year-old has told Real Madrid directors he hasn’t changed his mind and that his only desire was to play for the La Liga champions. Mbappe was seen in the Spanish capital with his PSG team-mate Achraf Hakimi.

Rashford and Tomori in it? The 23 English players who should go to Qatar

Paper Round’s point of view: Spotted! He is a favorite of the transfer season, and while Mbappe may have initially wanted to keep a low profile, he will have quickly realized that in the age of social media it is virtually impossible to go unnoticed in a capital city, so he had probably given up by the time Hakimi posted on his Instagram Story. This move won’t happen as quickly as Erling Haaland to Manchester City, it seems, but could be done by the end of this month.

Arsenal considering Sterling transfer

Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Raheem Sterling this summer with the Manchester City striker soon entering the final year of his contract, the Telegraph report. City don’t usually like players in their prime rescinding their offers, meaning the 27-year-old’s future will likely be decided once the current campaign is over. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with Sterling during his three years at City, but the Gunners will face competition from other Premier League clubs and some of Europe’s biggest sides, should the England international be be made available.

Paper Round’s point of view: Arsenal are hoping to confirm a Champions League place this week, at Tottenham no less, and know a return to competition will boost their recruitment plans. Signing Sterling would be a start, but they need to confirm fourth, first.

Boehley wants Buck to stay

Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia are set to remain in their roles at Chelsea under potential new owner Todd Boehly, The Times report. The Boehly-led consortium still needs government and Premier League approval before taking over at Chelsea, but the group are already considering changes to the club’s structure. Boehly will sit on the board, while chairman Buck and manager Granovskaia are expected to survive the restructuring. The Telegraph report Buck and Granovskaia will speak with Boehly ahead of the FA Cup final.

Paper Round’s point of view: Roman Abramovich played a secondary role during his time as Chelsea owner, and so the prospect of Buck and Granovskaia remaining at Stamford Bridge would certainly help the stability of the club at a time of such change. This news will draw some naysayers, but it would be a wise move on Boehly’s part, even if it means the Abramovich-era fingerprints haven’t been entirely erased.

West Ham could sign Nketiah

West Ham are hoping to capitalize on Eddie Nketiah’s contract stalemate at Arsenal, the Mail report. The 22-year-old striker is a free agent this summer, and although Arsenal want to keep him, West Ham are set to pounce if talks between the Gunners and Nketiah’s representatives come to nothing.

Paper Round’s point of view: Nketiah is right to wait until the summer to explore his options, especially with Arsenal targeting forwards in the coming window, and it could be quite a fight should he move to the Hammers.
