Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell has urged Ben White to add aggression to his game so he can become a better defender.
The Englishman is Arsenal’s most expensive centre-back having splashed the cash on him last summer.
He formed a brilliant defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of defense last campaign.
They almost earned us a place in the Premier League top four at the end of the season.
Gabby Agbonlahor told Football Insider last month that White was overrated and lacking in aggression.
Campbell agrees with the former Aston Villa man and says the former Brighton centre-back needs to add that bit of aggression to his game.
He tells Football Insider:
“Ben White doesn’t worry you if you play against him. I think Gabriel has that though. He’s a lot more physical. That’s what Agbonlahor says.
“I don’t think he’s saying he’s a bad player. He just says he doesn’t have that aggression.
“Ben White has been in the England team with the attributes he has. That’s key.
“Can he become more aggressive? I think he can. In time it will, I’m sure.
Just the opinion of Arsenal
White is a very good defender who plays the ball and he does his job very well for us at the back.
However, Gabriel is definitely more aggressive and will trick opponents into staying away from him.
If White adds that to his game, we would have two top-class centre-backs, and it will make our defense very difficult to break through.
