Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp shared details of a minor illness spreading through the Liverpool camp.
Unfortunately, a few Liverpool players have fallen ill this week, with Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas having to miss training due to an issue.
Thankfully, Tsimikas is back in training but according to Klopp, Jones is still out of action.
What was said?
Klopp spoke about Jones and Tsimikas.
“We had a small problem, and I hope it didn’t get prolonged or worsen. We had a little problem with diarrhea and all that, Curtis and Kostas. Kostas was back yesterday, Curtis couldn’t practice yesterday so those two boys were out.
Do not miss
It’s never good for a disease to spread through your squad, but luckily for Liverpool, Curtis Jones isn’t a key player.
The youngster is an incredibly talented footballer and he’s a player the Reds would certainly prefer to have available, but with Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Naby Keita and James Milner all available for selection, he shouldn’t be missed too much.
As Klopp says, the main concern is that this disease could spread throughout the team, and although it is only a minor ailment, we have seen things like this before derailing a team’s season.
Think back to the famous ‘lasagna door’ incident with Tottenham, a disease spreading through a team can absolutely wipe out a team for a short time, and with the title on the line, Liverpool must make sure to avoid such a scenario. . .
