Transfer News: Inter Milan push for the signing of Chelsea target Gleison Bremer
According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Inter Milan are ‘prioritizing’ a deal with Torino for the transfer of Gleison Bremer amid interest from Chelsea.
The Brazilian has proven to be a rock-solid defender in the Torino backline in recent campaigns. His impact in pushing the Italian team higher up the Serie A table has been immense. Having made 33 appearances in the recent campaign, the 25-year-old was a regular starter in the defensively strong Italian side.
Chelsea don’t seem to be in a good position when it comes to contacting some of their crucial centre-backs. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are about to leave the club, which will open up a huge defensive void in the first team.
In such a situation, the Blues tried to get quality reinforcements and selected Bremer as a potential solution. Thomas Tuchel’s side are in need of an overhaul and no other position cries it out as loudly as the central defensive formation.
However, not only Chelsea but also Inter Milan have shown great interest in the 25-year-old Brazilian. The Nerazzurri have already reached a personal agreement with Bremer and are now pushing to finalize the deal with Torino.
Hard blow for Chelsea?
Chelsea could struggle a lot in the following campaign if they don’t sign one or more quality reinforcements. As César Azpilicueta’s future is also up in the air, Thiago Silva would remain the only recognized senior centre-back on the list. Even though Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are available, they may not be ready to take on the role just yet.
Bremer has shown himself to be physically strong and tactically smart. The 25-year-old has made 110 appearances for Torino since joining the club in 2018. He is one of those players who rarely gets injured and can give Chelsea plenty of game time every season.
He’s never played in the Premier League before which might be the only downside to signing him. However, given that the Brazilian has shown an inclination to work and learn under different managers; he might be able to adopt the system quickly at Chelsea with the help of a world-class coaching staff.

But Inter’s aggressiveness in the transfer race shows Chelsea may not have the opportunity to snatch the transfer. The Italian side already have an advantage due to the personal deal, now they would push Torio to complete the deal as soon as possible which would end the Blues’ pursuit of the centre-back.
