After a frustrating end to last season, which saw him only appear once, for around an hour, after the Club World Cup in mid-February due to what turned out to be a Achilles problem persisting, the young Callum Hudson-Odoi is delighted to be back and forth in full training with the team.
Chelsea started pre-season preparations on Saturday, but Hudson-Odoi (just like Ben Chilwell) was already back a week or two earlier, securing a few extra reps with the development team in order to really kick off the new season.
Luckily, the 21-year-old is feeling fine, physically and mentally, and hopefully he’s completely forgotten about his injury.
“It was an incredible feeling. I worked as hard as I could to come back to train with the team and play games. It was frustrating to be outside and see everyone training, playing. to games and having fun, so I’m glad to be back.
“For my part, I wanted to push myself to the maximum every time whether on the pitch or off, trying to give my maximum. We did a lot of gymnastics off the pitch to get a little bigger and stronger, to try to be more muscular. But at the same time, on the pitch, I worked hard doing individual sessions.
“It feels good to be back, it’s amazing.”

Callum is still very young in the grand scheme of things, although this will already be his fifth senior season with the team, so big things are certainly expected.
