Harry Kane is at the Masters because of course he is

Harry Kane loves golf. It’s probably no surprise to anyone who has been following Tottenham Hotspur or Kane for a while. Reports say he has been a huge fan of the game for some time, and he has been spotted at golf courses in the London area playing with Matt Doherty and Eric Dier, as well as Jamie Redknapp.

Heck, two years ago he was spotted in the background of a video posted to Instagram by Jose Mourinho after Tottenham beat Arsenal in the North London Derby, sitting in the Spurs dressing room watching golf in your underwear. Man loves the game, what can I say?

England, Tottenham, golf. That seems reasonable to me.

So when a report popped up on Twitter that Harry Kane was in the final round of the Masters tournament at Augusta National today, my instant response was – well, of course he is. Why wouldn’t it be?

Now there are likely to be some very serious people out there who will argue that this is ‘unprofessional’ from Harry and that he should be back in North London, devoting all his attention and energy to making sure Tottenham qualifies for the Champions League at the expense. anything (else) that could improve his life for the better. These people probably hate having fun and you shouldn’t listen to them. If you are a professional athlete who earns millions of pounds a year and has both the time and the financial infrastructure to be able to take a 10 hour flight to watch other wealthy professional athletes kick a ball around a nice stretch of perfectly mowed grass for a day, well, why the hell shouldn’t you?

Naturally, we wanted proof. We got it.

Deep in my heart I was desperate for a screenshot from a TV showing Harry Edward Kane, MBE somewhere in the stands near Augusta’s #12 hole with the rest of the hoi polloi, but I guess that when you’re captain of England, you’re going to find yourself in front of a Sky Sports camera in a gazebo. It’s good too. And he really looks like he’s having fun. God bless him, he doesn’t even look jet lagged.
