Pat Nevin has told the Sunday Post that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are set to sign Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.
The former Chelsea and Scotland international winger is a big fan of Arsenal left-back Tierney.
The BBC Sport pundit thinks Manchester City would be a better team with Tierney.
Nevin told the Sunday Post of Tierney: “I think Manchester City would be the perfect club for him. They have a brilliant squad but are a bit short of two positions – left-back and centre-forward. They spent £100m to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa so they could easily match Arsenal’s price tag.
“If they finally win the Champions League this season, then how do you strengthen the best team in Europe? Signing Kieran would be a good start.
“I tried to convince Chelsea to buy him four years ago but they didn’t listen and ended up signing Ben Chilwell from Leicester City – for double what Kieran would have cost them. ‘m 24 and haven’t peaked yet, which is pretty scary.
Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney is good enough for Manchester City
In our opinion, Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and is good enough to play for City.
Yes, the £25m Arsenal left-back (The Sunday Post) has struggled with injuries but when fit and available there’s no doubt the 24-year-old is brilliant .
Tierney is very good in attack and is also skilled in his defensive duties.
What is also remarkable about the former Celtic star is that he is a leader at the back.
We often see Tierney galvanizing the squad and instructing his Arsenal teammates on the pitch.
Now we have to clarify that there are no credible reports that Manchester City want to sign Tierney.
But, in our view, if reigning Premier League champions City are interested in the left-back, it would be difficult for Arsenal to keep him.
