Erik ten Hag has found Manchester United’s dream centre-back

Manchester United could be looking to sign a new centre-back this summer. When they brought in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid it was seen as a huge move by the Red Devils and many believed it would solve their defensive problems, turning them into one of the Premier League’s most formidable full-backs. . . It is safe to say that this has not happened so far.

Varane himself has faced his fair share of form and injury issues. On the other hand, his entourage struggled to regain their form from last season.

Harry Maguire has been the subject of much criticism and others have also failed to step up to take his place in the starting XI. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if a new centre-back tops Erik ten Hag’s summer wishlist as he looks to rebuild the team and it looks like he’s found his dream target. .

As Marca reported, Ten Hag wants a ball-playing centre-back and Pau Torres fits perfectly into that. The Dutch coach wants the Villarreal defender at all costs. Manchester United are believed to be ready to offer him a €50m transfer fee.

Torres had also been heavily linked with Manchester United last summer, before agreeing a deal to sign Varane from Real Madrid.

Now it looks like the Red Devils could come back for Torres. And this time, Villarreal might find it harder to hold him back.

Villarreal had a brilliant season in Europe, reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. But their La Liga form was not good at all and they finished the campaign in 7th place, missing out on both the Champions League and Europa League qualifying places.

So, if Manchester United come up with a big offer for Torres, the Spanish club will definitely have to consider parting ways with Torres.

If the club are able to sign Torres, one has to wonder what that would mean for the future of Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and a few other centre-backs already at Old Trafford.
