Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t the only one to blame for his side’s Champions League exit, but the stats certainly don’t read well.
Atletico Madrid beat the home side 1-0 at Old Trafford, much to the dismay of fans who have nothing more to look forward to.

0 – For only the third time in his Champions League career, Cristiano Ronaldo has played more than 90 minutes in a match in the competition tonight without having a single shot; the others were for Man Utd against Panathinaikos in November 2003 and for Real Madrid against Barcelona in May 2011. The fact that Ronaldo went off target in the Champions League for the first time since 2011 proves how bad the serve has been for him.
Of course, he could have done more to get more involved in the game but his teammates failed to find him in the dangerous areas enough.
Ronaldo’s struggles were just evidence of how difficult this United side are at breaking through stubborn defences, rather than being a direct contributor to it all.
Ralf Rangnick tried everything to get his players forward, but unfortunately there were just too many underachievers to make a difference.
Of course everything and everyone will be criticized but there was enough talent on the pitch and enough time to at least score the equaliser.
The truth is, the Red Devils haven’t even managed to come close with the Atletico goalkeeper only making one memorable save.
There have been rumors that Ronaldo will leave Old Trafford if he doesn’t qualify for the Champions League and time will tell if that’s true.
