No matter who you play for, any footballer who manages to score 25 goals and make 13 assists in 37 appearances in Europe will attract attention.
Those are Christopher Nkunku’s current season numbers and, as expected, big clubs are circling the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, including Chelsea.
It comes courtesy of Foot Mercato, who take a look at the Frenchman’s incredible campaign so far, explaining that one of his goals is to convince Didier Deschamps to pick him for the France squad.
However, if doing all that at RB Leipzig isn’t enough, they point out ‘it might be time for the former Parisian to take the next step in his career’.
The good news for him is that the suitors “are numerous and prestigious”, before naming Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and the leaders of Ligue 1.
All of these are ‘warned’, however, that signing Nkunku ‘will be expensive’, as RB Leipzig are asking for ‘no less than 75 million euros’.
Now normally we would say such a sum might not be a stretch for Chelsea this summer, but given the situation surrounding the residents of Stamford Bridge and the uncertainty of their future since Roman Abramovich put his club on sale, we’ll have to wait and see how things came up in the summer.
