Earlier this month, Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly led a group to buy London-based Fulham football club Chelsea and formally completed the deal.
The consortium also included Dodgers owner Mark Walter, Wyss Foundation founder Hansjörg Wyss and British property developer Jonathan Goldstein. The group reached a deal in May to buy Chelsea for $5.33 billion and received all necessary approvals from the UK government, the Premier League and other authorities.
With the Dodgers and Chelsea now linked by ownership, Chelsea star Mason Mount came to Los Angeles and was given a tour of Dodger Stadium. Mount took pictures with the 2020 World Series trophy and received a personalized Dodgers jersey with his No. 19 on it.

The 23-year-old started his senior club career with Chelsea in 2017 and joined Vitesse and Derby County on back-to-back loans from 2017 to 2019. He has since become a key player for Chelsea and won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super. Cut in 2021.
Mount also won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the England Under-19 national team in 2017. He made his senior international debut in 2019, aged 20, and made part of the England squad at UEFA Euro 2020.
The attacking midfielder appeared in 32 Premier League appearances and scored 11 goals and 10 assists. In his three seasons, he scored 24 goals with 20 assists.
Boehly vows to boost Chelsea’s competitiveness
Boehly, who is the current CEO of Eldridge, and Clearlake Capital Group will share joint control and governance of the team, in addition to serving as chairman of the holding company.
Boehly and Clearlake said they are committed to investing in key areas of the franchise that will expand and improve Chelsea’s competitiveness across the board, which includes the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge and new investment in the Academy, the women’s team and Kingsmeadow Stadium.
Boehly and the group of owners are committed to deepening the work of the Chelsea Foundation which brings together the Football in the Community department and the Education department in addition to international work and anti-discrimination projects.
