The Telegraph reported this week that Leicester City are planning summer signings but their current financial situation will force them to sell to bring in players.
Youri Tielemans is one of the players likely to be on the move, with The Telegraph writing that he will cost around £25million – due to the final year of his contract at Leicester. The same outlet adds that the midfielder wants to play in the Champions League.
Ben Jacobs from CBS Sports reports that Arsenal and Manchester United are continuing to pursue Tielemans, but there are few links to West Ham United and nothing in the repeated reports of interest from Liverpool.
Arsenal and Manchester United are therefore the favourites, but Tielemans’ desire to play in the Champions League would likely see a clear favorite emerge should either team make the top four.
Of course, there is always a strong possibility that Tottenham Hotspur will end up beating Tielemans’ two contenders for European premium competition. In this case, neither would be able to offer the player Champions League football.
The Telegraph claim the 24-year-old is still set to see out the final year of his contract with Leicester City, and perhaps he would choose this path if he didn’t have the Champions League alternative.
Tielemans has scored seven goals and three assists in 38 games for Leicester City in all competitions this season, including eight of those goal contributions in his 23 Premier League appearances.
