Now 18, Carney Chukwuemeka is a central midfielder who is under contract until 2023 with Aston Villa.
According to the Evening Standard, Chukwuemeka, who has played 188 minutes in the Premier League this season, Arsenal have scouted the midfielder with Danilo from Palmerias as they look to strengthen that area of the pitch.
Arsenal were interested in 17-year-old Carney Chukwuemeka at Aston Villa earlier this year before he signed his first professional contract.
Writing for The Athletic, David Ornstein claims Arsenal were one of six big clubs to be interested in 17-year-old Carney Chukwuemeka at Aston Villa before signing his professional contract in October.
Villa are currently very keen to capitalize on their academy talent, so they are determined to retain and retain as many of their best young players. Not exactly surprising in the current financial circumstances, where signing new players is more difficult.
As a result, there’s no chance of Arsenal bringing in the player during the winter window. Now that he has a professional contract, it will be much more difficult to attract the midfielder, at least for a few years.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will join Arsenal in regretting their failure to convince Chukwuemeka to refuse Villa if he continues to break into senior football in the next few years.
Currently playing for Villa U23s, Chukwuemeka has made nine appearances and provided a handful of assists this season.
