Arsenal Youth report that Zane Monlouis trained with Arsenal’s U18s this week as he builds up his fitness after four months out. Although he is set to join the Under-23s when fully healthy.

The 18-year-old centre-back last played for Arsenal in a Premier League 2 game against Leicester City on November 6.

Arsenal have had real injury problems in defense lately.

In a game in February, they were forced to appoint a four-man defender with a left-back, two right-backs at centre-back and a midfielder at right-back.

This situation has improved slightly over the past two weeks, with the return of Mazeed Ogungbo and Alex Kirk. Omar Rekik should also be back shortly.

But the return of Monlouis is certainly another bonus for the team.

While Arsenal’s U23s are second in the league and are having a fairly good season, they have been hit hard by absences throughout the year.

From the loan departures of key squad members to the injuries and suspensions of players in positions without substitutes, almost every line-up feels improvised in one way or another.

With just five games of the U23 season remaining, it would be nice to see some consistency in the final weeks to round things out.
